| System requirements | A PowerPC- or Intel-based Macintosh computer with Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard. Eight megabytes of disk space for the Knox application, more for the Knox vaults. |
| Encryption algorithm | Advanced Encryption Standard as implemented by Apple’s FileVault technology. 128-bit key length (AES-128) on Mac OS X 10.4, 128-bit or 256-bit key length on Mac OS X 10.5. |
| Vault file format | A HFS+ file system on a Mac OS X sparse disk image. AES-128 images are compatible with all Mac OS X systems from 10.3; AES-256 images are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 systems only. |
