System requirementsA PowerPC- or Intel-based Macintosh computer with Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later. Five megabytes of disk space for the Knox application, more for the Knox vaults.
Encryption algorithmAdvanced Encryption Standard as implemented by Apple’s FileVault technology. 128-bit key length (AES-128) on Mac OS X 10.4, 128-bit or 256-bit key length on Mac OS X 10.5.
Vault file formatA HFS+ file system on a Mac OS X sparse disk image. AES-128 images are compatible with all Mac OS X systems from 10.3; AES-256 images are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 systems only.
Vault disk usageMinimum four megabytes per vault (with a 100MB stretch limit). Maximum up to hard disk capacity.
